It’s ordinary
There is a simple dining table before you.
If you ever visit Korea, you’ll probably see tables just like this quite often.
Of course, you might find similar ones in your own country, too.
Haven’t noticed anything special yet? Don’t worry—I’m about to show you what makes it unique!
Take a peek to side of table!
In the past, We used a container for spoons and chopsticks placed in the corner of the table. But it often took up space or even fell to the ground sometimes.
So, we thought, “Isn’t there a way to save space and keep things clean?”.
That’s when we decided to turn one side of the table into a drawer!
Now, we store spoons, chopsticks, and napkins in there. Problem solved!
Imo and Samchon
In Korean restaurants, it’s usually the “aunties” who serve the food.
While you might politely say “Excuse me” to call a server in English, but it’s little different way here in Korea.
Since many of the servers are older women, we call them “이모” [i-mo], which means “aunt.”
It’s a warm and friendly way to treat them.
So, next time you’re in Korea, why not try saying “imo” instead of “excuse me”?
And if your server happens to be a man, you can call him “삼촌” [sam-chon], which means “uncle”!
Give it a go!
